What to Expect

The Great Hall

The centerpiece of the festive transformation recreates the Yule Ball atmosphere from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Visitors will find the Great Hall decorated with glistening silvers, ice sculptures, and icy musical instruments positioned on stage.

The setup also includes elements from the end-of-term feast scene in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, complete with banquet tables laden with roast potatoes, peas, turkeys, and flaming puddings.

Towering Christmas trees topped with flying witches fill the space, while fireplaces are dressed with holly, mistletoe, and wreaths to complete the magical holiday scene.

Common Rooms and Living Spaces

Both Gryffindor and Slytherin common rooms receive festive makeovers using authentic decorations from the film series.

The displays include original Christmas cards and holiday decorations created by the film crew, giving visitors insight into the attention to detail that went into the movies’ seasonal scenes.

Outdoor Sets

The Forbidden Forest takes on an enchanting winter atmosphere, covered in artificial snow that creates a magical woodland setting. Meanwhile, Diagon Alley’s shop fronts and cobbled streets receive a light dusting of snow, adding a festive touch to the wizarding shopping experience.

Hogwarts Castle Model

The detailed Hogwarts castle model undergoes its annual snow transformation using the same decorating techniques employed by the original set designers.

As an added challenge, tiny snowman figures are hidden throughout different locations on the castle each year, creating a fun treasure hunt for observant visitors.

Special Features for 2025

Hagrid Demonstration

New for 2025, a special filmmaking demonstration showcases how Hagrid was brought to life on screen.

The presentation includes a close look at his animatronic head and highlights the snowy scene where he drags a giant Christmas tree across the Hogwarts grounds.

Behind-the-Scenes Snow Magic

Interactive displays reveal the cinematic techniques used to create “never melting snow” throughout the Harry Potter films.

Visitors can learn about the three specialized materials used for different on-screen purposes and even experience the “crunching” texture of the fake snow used during filming.

Interactive Activities

Platform 9¾ offers visitors the chance to decorate Christmas cards beside the original Hogwarts Express.

Additional activities include broomstick riding experiences and exploring tactile props from the films.
